Kimmy & Klassé Review Three
The Love of Music | Independent
Where have these girls been hiding? We are excited to introduce you to Maryland's Kimmy & Klasse. Think modern day Ella Fitzgerald and Dianne Reeves with a splash of Patti LaBelle with absolutely wicked harmonizing. The trio began concocting their career more than 10 years ago. Not unlike Earth, Wind & Fire, Kimmy & Klasse blend and weave their vocals with a spiritual precision. Breaking the band down for clarity, Kimmy Kearse was a music major at Webster University in St. Louis and provides "the necessary glue for the groups longevity." Johnita Wilson-Dillard is the one that is considered the diplomatic peacemaker of the trio providing "the perfect balance." And Gwen Wortham is the easy going one, a characteristic needed in every group." All of the girls credit Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle as inspirations. The new release, THE LOVE OF MUSIC is a great collection of soulful, head-boppin tunes that belong in your car CD player. Favorite tracks include the jazzy and sensual, "Which Way Is Love," the sassy and Oh no you didnt "Crazy," and a stellar version of the Rogers and Hart, "My Funny Valentine." Plus, the CD offers up a righteous rendition of "Chain of Fools" as well as a stirring take of the Van McCoy ("The Hustle") tune "Giving Up". Do yourself a big, big favor and reach out for Kimmy & Klasse.
